OpenClaw Hosting Without the Server Work
OpenClaw hosting is somewhere for your OpenClaw agent to run around the clock. Most providers sell it as a VPS you configure yourself. On our Pro and Turbo plans it is built into the hosting account: one click in the control panel's AI Tools section and the agent runs as a background service, alongside your website, at a price that never rises at renewal.
What Is OpenClaw, and What Can an Always-On AI Agent Do for You?
OpenClaw is an open-source, self-hosted personal AI agent. It runs on a server you control, stays on around the clock, and can be set up to automate and run almost any task you want in the digital space, from answering messages to working through a to-do list.
OpenClaw was created by developer Peter Steinberger and first shipped in late 2025 as Clawdbot. It was renamed Moltbot in January 2026 and then OpenClaw, which is why you will still see all three names in guides and forums. Whatever the name, the idea is the same: an assistant that lives on your own server rather than inside someone else's app, with its memory and settings kept on your account.
What makes it more than a chatbot is that it keeps running when you close the browser. Through skills and integrations, OpenClaw AI agents can:
- Answer you in the messaging apps you already use, such as Telegram, WhatsApp, Discord, Slack and Signal
- Work through scheduled and repeating tasks without being asked each time
- Use skills you enable to reach your tools, files and online services
- Keep context between conversations, so it builds up knowledge of how you work
Because it is self-hosted, the agent itself sits on your hosting account. The thinking is done by an AI model from a provider you choose, which is the one part of the setup you pay for outside your hosting plan.
How OpenClaw Setup Works Inside Your Hosting Account
OpenClaw setup on our hosting takes three steps and no command line. The control panel installs and runs it for you on an automatically assigned port, and you manage it from your browser.
Choose Pro or Turbo
OpenClaw is included from the Pro plan up. Pick the plan that fits your website as well, because both run on the same account.
Press Enable OpenClaw
In the control panel, open AI Tools, then OpenClaw, and press the Enable button. The agent starts as a background service.
Connect Your Model and Apps
Open the browser Control UI to chat with your agent, add the API key for the AI model you want it to use, enable skills and connect your messaging apps.

What OpenClaw Hosting Includes, and the One Cost It Does Not
Your hosting plan includes OpenClaw itself, the server it runs on and the control panel that manages it. The AI model your agent thinks with is not included: it is billed by the model provider, on your own account with them.
Included in every plan from Pro upwards:
- OpenClaw, installed and run for you as a background service
- The browser Control UI for chatting, skills and messaging connections
- The AI Coding Agent, an AI website and app builder inside the control panel
- Your website, email on your own domain and daily backups on the same account
- 24/7 support, and a price that stays the same at every renewal
The model is billed separately. OpenClaw needs an API key from an AI model provider such as Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI (GPT) or Google (Gemini) to think. Usage goes on your account with that provider, priced by them. We say so up front because nobody likes finding that out after they have paid.
That split is what keeps OpenClaw hosting affordable. You choose the model, you control what it costs, and you can change provider without changing host.
OpenClaw on Shared Hosting or on Your Own VPS: Which Fits You?
For a personal agent with a few channels and skills, the one-click OpenClaw on Pro or Turbo is the simple choice. If your agent runs heavy automation, many skills or several agents at once, a KVM VPS gives it resources of its own.
| What matters | Pro or Turbo shared hosting | KVM VPS hosting |
|---|---|---|
| Setting OpenClaw up | One click in the control panel | You install it yourself, with full root access |
| Resources | A share of the server set by your plan | Guaranteed CPU cores and memory of your own |
| Best for | A personal agent, a few channels and skills | Heavy automation and several agents |
| Your website | On the same account, managed for you | On the same server, managed by you |
| Free trial | 30 days | None, billed monthly |
OpenClaw's own guidance is 2 GB of memory as a minimum and 4 GB to run comfortably, with needs growing as you add skills and integrations. Our entry KVM VPS plan starts with 2 CPU cores and 4 GB of memory, which is that comfortable size, and the larger KVM plans scale up from there.
Who OpenClaw Hosting Suits Best
OpenClaw hosting suits anyone who wants an AI agent working for them around the clock without becoming a server administrator to get it.
Small Business Owners
Let an agent handle routine messages, reminders and follow-ups in the apps your customers already use, while your website runs on the same plan.
Builders and Developers
Prototype skills and integrations on Pro or Turbo, then move to a KVM VPS with root access when a project needs more power.
Anyone Who Wants Control
A self-hosted agent keeps its memory and settings on your own account rather than inside a third-party app, and you choose which model provider it talks to.

OpenClaw Hosting Questions, Answered Plainly
What is OpenClaw hosting?
OpenClaw hosting is a server for your OpenClaw AI agent to run on around the clock. On our Pro and Turbo plans it is built into the hosting account, so you switch it on with one click instead of renting and configuring a separate server.
Which plans include OpenClaw?
Pro and Turbo shared hosting, both semi-dedicated servers, every KVM VPS and every dedicated server. The comparison above shows them side by side, with the shared plans live from the store.
Can I add OpenClaw to the Standard or Express plan?
No. OpenClaw cannot be bought separately for Standard or Express. Pro is the first plan that includes it, and it also gives you unlimited websites, so it is the natural step up.
Do I need a VPS to run OpenClaw?
Not with us. On Pro and Turbo, OpenClaw runs inside the shared hosting account as a background service. A KVM VPS is worth it when your agent runs heavy automation or you want several agents with resources of their own.
Is the AI model included in the price?
No. OpenClaw thinks with an AI model from a provider such as Anthropic, OpenAI or Google, and you add that provider's API key yourself. Model usage is billed by the provider, on your account with them, while your hosting plan covers the agent and the server it runs on.
How much memory does OpenClaw need?
OpenClaw's own guidance is 2 GB of memory as a minimum and 4 GB to run comfortably, rising as you add skills and integrations. For heavy use, our entry KVM VPS plan starts at 2 CPU cores and 4 GB of memory.
Which messaging apps can OpenClaw connect to?
OpenClaw connects to popular messaging platforms including Telegram, WhatsApp, Discord, Slack and Signal. You set the connections up from its browser Control UI once the agent is running.
Can I host my website and OpenClaw on the same plan?
Yes. That is one of the main advantages of OpenClaw on our hosting: your website, your email and your agent all live on one account, managed from one control panel, for one yearly price.
Is there a free trial for OpenClaw hosting?
The Pro and Turbo plans both come with a 30-day free trial of the hosting plan, with no payment details at signup. Trial accounts run with a few safety limits, including a lower CPU allowance, so use the trial to test the hosting itself. VPS and dedicated servers have no trial and are billed monthly.
Will my OpenClaw plan go up in price at renewal?
No. The price you start with is the price you keep, on every plan. We never raise your price at renewal, which is not something most hosts can say about their introductory rates.
Is OpenClaw the same as Clawdbot and Moltbot?
Yes. OpenClaw first shipped in late 2025 as Clawdbot, was renamed Moltbot in January 2026, and then became OpenClaw. Guides written under the older names still apply to the same project.
How do I keep an OpenClaw agent safe?
Give it only the access it needs. Enable skills from sources you trust, connect only the accounts it has a job to do in, keep your model provider's API key private, and review what it is allowed to do as you add integrations. An agent can act on your behalf, so treat its permissions the way you would treat a new staff member's.
